TESTIMONIALS

Nearly every brochure of Yoga Ed was “scarfed” up by enthused educators hungry for more information at the end of my talk on “Yoga, Breath and the Brain”.  So, I wanted to let you know how responsive and positive these educators were to these messages:
#1) Yoga practice is an effective means of teaching children how to “strengthen and nourish the integrity of their central nervous systems.”
#2) Yoga practice is helpful in fostering some of the habits of mind that help develop students as “optimal learners.”
#3) Yoga Ed. is, in my opinion, simply the best, most extensive, and most thoughtfully infused Yoga curriculum that exists in education today.  I give this recommendation after reviewing some of the dozens of yoga programs that teachers are introducing across the country.

About Yoga Ed. K-8 Program:

"As a first grade teacher, I see enormous benefits to using yoga in the classroom.  When my students are full of energy, as 6 and 7 year olds tend to be, it is very easy to begin beathing practices with them.  We practice meditation, or sitting in stillness, focusing on our breath, do sun salutations and seated twists on a daily basis.  The kids love it and it really helps in getting them focused on learning. I also find that when they get upset or cry at school, I can calm them down quickly with breathing techniques we have used in class. They're really proud of themselves when they get good at poses too. It is the best behavior management I have used, and we can do it together.  I recommend it to all teachers, wholeheartedly!"

Teacher Training
This week I was able to teach yoga to kindergarteners as well as 1st and 2nd graders at my daughter’s school. It was awesome!  I had such a wonderful time. The Yoga Ed Teacher Training enabled me to be completely present to what was happening in the moment and use it to illustrate my lesson plan theme of Breath.  It was so much fun. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Leah & Tara...

The curriculum is more than I was hoping it would be. Wow!  Thank you, Leah and Tara for the wealth of information you shared!

I left the Yoga Ed. Teacher Training feeling empowered and confident, the very qualities this curriculum inspires the child to be.

Tools for Teachers Workshops:
Here’s what some participants had to say about the workshop:

When I walked into the Yoga Ed. Tools for Teachers workshop, I was heartened by the presence of so many open people, both experienced and brand new to yoga, willing to learn and share the wisdom of this ancient technology and eager to aquire techniques to bring it to our children.  Tara and Leah lead us through a series of exercises, games, and visualization techniques that created a warm and nurturing environment.  They provided teachers with tools to assist us in staying relaxed and focused in the classroom while promoting a model of learning through which our children can rise to their highest potential, both as students and as human beings.  Thanks for an inspiring and enjoyable workshop.
Rebecca Shanley, Sheridan St. School, Grade 2

The Yoga ED Tools for Teachers Workshop was fabulous! Although I practice Yoga, I didn’t have the proper tools to bring Yoga into my classroom.  Leah and Tara did a wonderful job of simplifying basic techniques that I was able to implement into my teaching program the very next Monday!  I have found that Yoga is a unique way to bring focus and manageable energy into my classroom.

The Yoga Ed. workshop helped me understand the power of yoga practices
I already use in the classroom, like breathing exercises and chair poses.  It also provided a number of new exercises and games as well as a child-yogi language that will help my students visualize and understand the purpose of poses.

Lisa Helene Donovan, Ramona Elementary, Grades 3-5, Special Day Class

I was pleased to see so many willing and interested teachers on the 5th, and I think they are the tip of the iceberg. Teachers need to relax and rejuvenate. When they learn these techniques, they can pass them onto their students. I know I have. Yoga has been a life-saver for me.

Sandy Christenson, Metropolitan High School, Grades 10-12

Yoga Ed. in Aspen:
“As the Director of our Lower School, I am impressed with both the Yoga Ed curriculum and with how great the instructors are!  The program really seems to center the kids.  They come into the Yoga room with all sorts of feelings and energies, but they all leave with a certain focus and peacefulness.  I was initially skeptical about what the children would think about Yoga, but they all seem to enjoy it.  It is a natural fit for children who lead active and busy life styles.”

David Lyons, Director, Aspen Country Day School

Our Thursdays with Suzanne Blumberg, who teaches Yoga Ed., are so special.   The children enjoy the physicality and creativity of yoga, which Suzanne ties into whatever we are studying, whether it’s poses representing states or poses which correlate with a certain science unit such as the
rainforest.  Yoga Ed. is a valuable part of each week.  Thank you!

Yoga Ed. Community Support:
I started doing volunteer yoga classes at my daughter’s public elementary school with favorable reviews from both teachers and school administrators.  This response ignited my dream to implement a broader school-wide yoga program.  Although, I had the passion and drive to do this, I needed guidance.  Fortunately, through Yoga Ed., I obtained the information and direction I had been seeking.  I am now forging ahead and receiving lots of support.  This was achieved through the guidance, encouragement, and information from Yoga Ed.  They have, I believe, the knowledge, experience, creativity, and professionalism to guide anyone on a similar journey. I am extremely grateful to have found them since so many other programs and yoga professionals kept coming up with blank answers and no concrete ways to assist me.   Yoga Ed. is clearly leading the way to bring yoga programs into schools all around the country and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
